Cherokee Cabin

For you water gardening enthusiasts, there is a very good aquatic plant nursery just a short drive away in Franklin, NC. It has been around since 1980 and has a very good reputation for their plants.

 

Their most popular bloomer is the Nymphaea, or water lilly. If you go to see them in bloom, make sure you go between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM, as this is the usual time that the lillies open up. The best months to see the water lillies is between April and September.

 

They also have the Nelumbo variety of lilly which you can see on display. The Nelumbo also open and close their buds between 10:00 and 2:00, but they have a much shorter blooming season, as they begin in Mid-June and stop in early August. Becasue of this, the best month to visit the Water Garden is July.

 

Perrys Water Gardens is open for visitors from April 1 until Labor Day. Their nursery is open most of the year, but they ask that you contact them first if you are going to visit outside those months.
